Andreas Nilsson wasn’t finished with M27. 🔭 He returned to the Dumbbell Nebula in 2026 to build on data he first captured in 2024, bringing his total exposure time to 6 hours. The Dumbbell is a planetary nebula about 1,400 light-years away in Vulpecula. Its bright core is relatively easy to capture, but pulling out the much fainter outer oxygen-rich regions takes considerably more time. Andreas’ combined data brings those delicate outer layers into view. Even more impressive: it was captured from Bortle 8 light-polluted skies.
