📚EP 1. FOOD SCHOOL, HEMP SEEDS (hearts) ✨SMASHED DATE PROTEIN BROWNIES✨ tap 🩷 & follow @soulcialfriend for nutrition with purpose ✨each is ~5g fibre, ~7g protein, ~3mg iron, ~40% daily magnesium (EU), omega 3s (ALA)✨ 🧬 hemp seeds have their shell removed, leaving the hemp heart: some natural reduction of mineral blocking compounds, more concentration of minerals (like magnesium, zinc and iron) and slightly better absorption. To note, there is still some phytic acid like in all plant foods, so best paired with a vitamin C source RECIPE ‘Protein Powder’ 1/2 cup (80g) hemp seeds (hearts) 2 tbsp cacao tiny touch of salt Dough 1/2 cup (50g) almond flour 2 tbsp almond butter 3 tbsp maple syrup (*since we’re layering on a date, you don’t need it too sweet. If using honey, can stick to 2 tbsp) Extras 9 medjool dates 1/3 cup almonds ~60g dark chocolate + 1 tsp coconut oil *if the dough feels too dry add 1 tbsp plant milk / if too wet, 1 tbsp almond flour Blend together hemp seeds, cacao and a touch of salt, about 5-10 secs. Combine with the ‘dough’ ingredients, first with a spoon, then with the help of your hands until a cohesive ball forms. Divide and make 9 small balls. *I recommend lining a cutting board or big plate with parchment (baking trays sometimes don’t fit in the freezer). De-seed the dates and open up slightly (sticky side up). Put a ball in the middle, place parchment paper on top and slightly squish with the palm of your hand or a glass. Round out the shape with your fingers and flash freeze for 5 mins while you prep the chocolate. Chop the almonds and stir into the melted chocolate. Slowly dollop about a tbsp on each ‘brownie bite’ and put in the freezer to fully set, at least 40 mins - 1 hour. Store in an airtight container in the freezer (or very cold part of the fridge). Let them thaw for a minute before eating. #iron #magnesium #protein #foodismedicine
