A Body Part Proves What Fibromyalgia Feels Like

In 2021, researchers found something important. It might be some of the best proof yet that fibromyalgia is real. Most people have never heard about it. People with fibromyalgia often wake up feeling like they got hit by a truck. No matter how long they sleep, they still wake up tired. For most, the pain always comes back to the same spot: the neck and shoulders. A team of researchers wanted to know why. They published their study in the Journal of Rheumatology. They used a needle and a pressure gauge to measure the pressure in the trapezius muscle. This muscle runs across the back of the neck and shoulders. They tested 108 people with fibromyalgia. They tested 30 people without it. The pressure in the muscle was nearly three times higher for the fibromyalgia group. That number is the finding. But what it means for fibromyalgia is the part almost nobody has connected yet. Click "Learn More" to see why this happens, and what can actually help.
