Mike Cordero BJJ

Everyone I started training with is either on TRT or retired. I refuse both. Wrote this because someone needs to know there's a third option.

I'm 54. Black belt at 50, started BJJ at 35. There are six guys I came up with in white belt class together. Two of them are now on prescribed testosterone and getting monthly compounded injections from one of those clinics that's opened in every strip mall in America. One of them has had two surgeries on the same shoulder. One of them just stopped showing up about eighteen months ago and quietly stopped responding to the group text. Two of them are still on the mat but they're "just drilling now" — which we all know is the polite phrase for the year before you stop completely. I am the only one of the six still rolling at training intensity. I am not on testosterone. I am not retired. I do not have a story about a surgery. I am the only one of the six who figured out there was a third path. I am writing this because I want you to know it exists. If you're a guy past 40 who trains, you are currently being sold one of two stories. Story one says your testosterone is low and you need to outsource the production of it to a clinic for the rest of your life, with monthly injections, the bloodwork, the regulatory paperwork, the conversations with your wife, and the quiet question in the back of your mind about whether you actually needed it or just wanted to feel like you did at 27. Story two says you're in your fifties now and the responsible thing is to dial back, take more rest days, accept your limitations, drill instead of roll, find a gentler hobby. Story two is what your orthopedist tells you, what your wife tells you, what your back tells you, and what your training partners are doing whether they admit it or not. Both of these stories are partly true. Both of them work for the guys who choose them. And both of them treat the wrong problem. The wrong problem they treat is the symptom. The right problem is the tissue. I want to tell you about the tissue because nobody is going to tell you about the tissue. The tissue is tendons — specifically, the parts of your tendons that are supposed to repair themselves and don't anymore. Tendons heal 18 times slower than muscle. After 35, the cell responsible for rebuilding them — it's called the fibroblast — stops doing its job unless something specifically wakes it up. Your testosterone doesn't wake it up. Surgery doesn't. Rest doesn't — rest just stops you damaging it further while it sits dormant. The supplements in your drawer don't. Turmeric quiets inflammation. Collagen feeds skin. Glucosamine helps cartilage. Fish oil is general. None of them are aimed at the fibroblast. None of them are even close. There is one substance I've found in two years of looking that wakes the fibroblast back up. Moringa oleifera. One plant. Wrestlers in India and Pakistan have used it for generations to keep grip strength and joint integrity into their fifties and sixties. The mechanism is well-documented in the South Asian wrestling and bodybuilding communities. It's been invisible in America because every supplement company that imports moringa puts it in a blend with fifteen other things at sub-effective doses — which kills the signal. The blend versions don't work. The single-ingredient version does. The one I found is called Tap-Less by a brand called Satori. Black-belt-founded by a guy who built it because he watched his friends pick between testosterone and retirement and refused both himself. The label is one ingredient: 800mg moringa oleifera, vegan capsule, that's it. Two a day. No proprietary nonsense. I've been on it nineteen months. Of the six guys I started with, I'm the only one who can say all of the following: I am not on prescribed hormones. I am not recovering from surgery. I am not "just drilling." I am rolling four to five hard rounds a week with guys ten and fifteen years younger than me, and I am waking up the next morning able to function. My grip is the strongest it's been since I was 44. My elbows don't click. My shoulders don't talk back. I am not telling you to skip your bloodwork. I am not telling you not to talk to your doctor. I am telling you there is a third path your doctor will not mention, your supplement aisle does not stock in usable form, and your training partners are not currently on. The path is single-ingredient moringa, in a dose that actually does anything, for ninety days minimum — because tendons remodel slow and anyone who sells you a faster timeline is selling you the wrong tissue. If you're at the point where you're seriously considering testosterone, or seriously considering stepping back from training, read this twice. Then try the third option for ninety days. If it doesn't work, you can always go back to the other two stories. They'll be there waiting. But you should at least know the third one exists. Tap-Less. Brand is Satori. One ingredient. Ninety days minimum. Link in bio. (Not sponsored. Not affiliated. Not a creator. Just the guy in the group text who figured something out and feels obligated to share it.)
